"It is the mind that makes one wise or ignorant, bound or emancipated." -- Sri Ramakrishna

I read this quote and I truly had a light bulb moment, and it profoundly changed my life.

We HAVE A CHOICE whether or not we want to move forward in joy, peace, and light or not.

When my relationship ended with my ex-husband, it was one of the most painful stages of my life. I resisted, I argued, and then finally I surrendered and realized it was over.

After I had my pity party (smiles) I was so drained that I couldn't feel any more pain. I couldn't cry. I simply was numb – but in the numbness I realized it sucked – to be in this place – and I knew I had to change and to move forward.

I made a conscious choice to NOT let the ending of a relationship define me – to learn from the ending, to heal, and to move forward to being a better person. To being a more at peace Ophelia.

It was one of the most difficult things I had ever had to do, but now looking back, it was the best thing that has happened to me. I am truly living my authentic life.

The study of Zen distinguishes “big mind” from “small mind”. When we have a “Big mind” we are focusing on the process of life, and we identify with the Universe and its infinite possibilities – we are actually looking at ways to be better, to be more happier, to be more at peace and to be more joyful.

We seek to be healed, we want to get rid of the hurts – we need to be closer to the Divine – we need to be in the light – we simply would rather live in joy than live in fear.

When we go through life having a 'big mind' we have unlimited possibilities, a deeper understanding, a desire to forgive, a need to accept those that are different from us, a great insight into life, a connectedness that is profound – and we focus our attention on what can be – instead of what was – or what might have been.

We no longer try to change someone – or hope that they will change – we no longer wait for them to make us happy – we seek happiness from the inside. We seek joy and peace – and realize they are the most valuable commodities in life!

However, when we are 'small-mind' we become self centered, we focus only on ourselves, we are mechanical and reactive to situations – we would rather resist change than go through a change.

We would rather be right – than be happy – and we resist new ways of doing something – we are simply stuck in our old patterns and refuse to move – we blaim everything on others – when in reality we are the common denominator in all of our relationships.

When we are 'small-mind' our thoughts, actions and beliefs become contagious, as we feed off our small-minded values – we start to believe our small-mind ideas and thoughts - and fear, judgment, anger, guilt, become the norm.

I can tell you from experience, that if I didn't have a 'big-mind', I wouldn't be open to the healing that came my way. I was exposed to EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) where a practitioner assisted me in breaking away from many of my old patterns. It profoundly freed to be my authentic self.

When you seek a higher perspectives and you will in time find freedom, peace, joy and light. It is not a easy journey, you will stumble along the way, but you will be move forward – and trust me my friends you will be so happy you did!

Lord Thomas Dewar said it well "Minds are like parachutes; they work best when open."

So open your mind – let it be BIG – and let the possibilities flow – you won't regret it!

Blessings,
Ophelia
