If you are reviewing this article, my guess is you are the go to person who finalizes projects in your organization. We can all learn from sides, a micro manager, and a master delegator. Both have strengths and weaknesses. The best way to work with a delegator is to understand what motivate them, be organized and be prepared as you may be the person that drives the important details of tasks.

The following is a list of suggested objectives for you to follow:

Objective> Find out what your mangers goals are, they may have a hidden agenda, so seek to understand. It may be to have more time off, or it may be a long-term strategic vision.

Solution> This person controls your destiny, so help them reach their goals.

Objective> Verify the mission and goals of your organization and supervisor.

Solution> Set up a plan of action that breaks down the mission, to a set of goals that is than broken down into time oriented tactics. Offer timely updates to show progress of the vision.

Objective>Become a master in your field. Be respected within and outside your organization your organization

Solution>The delegator will provide the environment for you to excel. The perception will be that they trained you very well and prepared and trusted you for a higher position.

Objective>Follow legal and corporate procedure. A Delegator does not want to deal with the detail. They get excited about strategy and hired you to take care of the detail. If this manager is blind-sided by illegal or guideline procedure not followed, you could be in the position to take the brunt of reprimand.

Solution>Be aware of rules and regulations and do not be a maverick. Remember, it is always best to follow guidelines. Creativity and thinking outside the box is great, as long as legalities and procedures are followed.
