Ann had it made, at one time.

She and her husband had a million-dollar home, two lovely children and the world by the short hairs. Business was good. Well, actually, it was very good.

But today, Ann’s husband is sitting in jail, her children are married and live out of state, she can’t find work and her rent is due in three days. She has $900 to her name. Does she use the money to fly out of state to be with her daughter as she delivers twins? Does she pay the attorney to get her husband out of jail? Does she pay part of the rent? Will she be living under a bridge?

WHAT happened?

Four years ago this couple, who love each other very much, made a very bad choice and became involved with a shyster (although they didn’t know it at the time). You know, one of those professionally unscrupulous “business” characters, who took them for $300,000.

Ann “felt it in her bones” that this man was no good from the start, but her trusting husband went ahead and got into business with this crook.

Afterward, desperate Mr. Ann did something illegal trying to recoup their losses and is now sitting in jail for it. It took four years, but his past finally caught up with him. It was just one bad decision after another and now Ann is a lost soul, because she always counted on the Mister to fix any problems that came up. (He apparently was not as good at this as they both thought)

Equally desperate, Ann called a Spiritual Career Advisor and asked what she should do. Her coach was kick-ass and told her exactly what she’d need to do and in which order to get out of debt and back on track with her life.

But you know, not everybody who asks for help really wants it. Some would rather just whine.

After listening to the advice, Ann told her coach, “You know, this really isn’t helping,” and hung up the phone.

What Ann really wanted was to remain a little girl and figure out a way for her jailed husband to continue solving their problems. Great track record so far. Did she want to learn how to find the best job for her? Apparently not. We show others what we really want by our actions, not by our words.

Don’t get left behind. Take the necessary steps now to be sure you can identify your best skills, values, talents and interests so you can find the job best suited for your personality. Stuff happens, and at least if you are working in a satisfying career (and paying attention to your intuition) you will have the resources necessary if things hit the fan.

How do you do this?
• Ask yourself, what is your best skill?
• Also ask, what is your best talent
• And then, determine what values you hold close to your heart
• One last thing, ask yourself if you always pay attention to your intuition (your intuition is God talking to you)

After you have discovered these things about yourself make a business plan and set out to find meaningful work that will grow you up, so to speak, and fit the parameters of the above answered questions. If your partner, God forbid, gets into trouble, you will have work that will keep a roof over your head and by paying attention to your intuition you will have developed a certain peace of mind to help you make important decisions.

Hey, this is life. Stuff happens. You must have all the solid resources you can develop, at your fingertips, if you need them.
