It's often the little things in life that matter the most, and this idea extends to your general health. In a world that idolizes stress, many forget the importance of just having fun. Indeed, more research is showing that taking time out of your day to do something enjoyable can significantly improve stress levels, thereby reducing the risk of many health problems. Whether it's playing video games, gardening, reading a book or looking at funny pictures, make sure you leave a little time for the fun things.

Rethink Your Nighttime Habits

Do you find yourself surfing the Internet before bed or falling asleep with the TV on? These are normal activities today, but scientific evidence is mounting that exposure to blue-wave artificial light, like that emitted by screens and most light bulbs, has a disastrous effect on the sleep cycle. Because of this, people go to bed later, experience less restful sleep and wake up more frequently at night. It's best to avoid exposure to blue-wave light two hours before bed, and consider covering your bedroom windows with thick curtains or black plastic to block external light.

Change Your Shopping Practices

If you're like most people, when you go to the store for a few groceries, your probably grab a cart. However, you might want use a basket instead, especially if you're not buying much. Carrying just five or six pounds through the store is surprisingly good exercise. It also improves your functional strength, making a multitude of everyday tasks easier.
