3 reasons to not give a crap about what others think of you (so it doesn’t hold you back any longer)

A couple of months ago someone asked me what the biggest fear was that I had to overcome in my business.

I didn’t have to think twice about it. My absolute number 1 fear was the fear to be visible.

It took me sooooo long to get over it. And I did it step by step.

It was definitely NOT one big leap from hiding myself completely to hello-world-here-I-am-and-here’s-how-I-can-help-you!

For a long time, I thought I was the only one who was scared to be visible.

Turns out, I’m not. So many women suffer to some degree of this visibility-fear as well.

Because they’re not sure if it’s really safe to be visible.

Because they worry what others will think of them. And worry if they will be criticized or even be disliked (gasp!) for sharing their truth.

And it prevents them from showing up in their power, sharing their gifts, expressing their real self, and doing what they’re born to do.

I’ve been there. And overcame it. And so can you!

These 3 reasons (and 2 quotes) will help you with that:

Reason #1:

No matter what you do or how you do it, there will always be some people who love you and some people who don’t. Most people won’t really think about you that much. If they even know you at all – it’s a pretty big planet we live on ;-)

Reason #2:

It’s never really about you.

What you do or say can trigger something in others. If that trigger makes them feel good or it inspires them, they will probably like you.

If it triggers a negative emotion, they might end up disliking you.

And no matter what you do or how you do it, there will ALWAYS be people who like what you do, and others who don’t. So don’t worry about it.

Reason #3:

You can never please everybody.

And that’s not even your job. You weren’t born to please others, nor to constantly look over your shoulder to make sure you haven’t stepped on anyone’s toes.

If their toes are so long, they’d better pull ‘em in.

It’s not your job to hippedy-hop through life trying to avoid all those toes.

(And it won’t even work. All that hippedy-hopping will surely land you on someone’s feet sooner or later.)

Helpful quote #1:

“I’m not in this world to live up to your expectations, and you’re not in this world to live up to mine.” ~ Bruce Lee

Helpful quote #2:

“Don’t worry if you’re making waves simply by being yourself. The moon does it all the time.” ~ Scott Stabile
