Considered by many of his peers as a first rate traditional martial artist and top level international competitor, Grand Master Steven Franz has remained a life long dedicated martial arts practitioner and instructor. Franz Shihan began training in 1978, originally studying Goju Ryu Karate Kai and has spent every day since then dedicated to training and improving his martial arts knowledge and skills. To attest to his ability as a martial artist Franz Shihan has been nominated to many Hall of Fames in the martial arts over the years and has received 10 inductions including a lifetime silver award for over 30 years of continuous martial arts learning in 2008.
Franz Shihan is an 8th degree black belt in three different martial art systems. He holds this rank in both Ji Do Kwan and Moo Duk Kwan Tae Kwon Do and Aiki Te Ryu Karate Do. He is also a certified 5th degree master in Goju Ryu, Aikijitsu and American Kenpo. With over 30 years of training under his belt he has also earned black belts at various levels in Togakure Ryu Ninjutsu, Judo, Iaido, Shaolin Kung Fu, Aikido and Tang Soo Do. Franz Shihan has also attained kyu rank in Shotokan, Kendo, Hapkido and Shito Ryu Karate. His training has taken him all over the United States as well as Okinawa, Japan and Korea in his quest for purity of knowledge in relation to the traditional martial arts.
