Take the Job Search B.R.I.D.G.E tm To Accelerate Your Career So You Can Love Your Life!

Introducing the Job Search B.R.I.D.G.E tm
Six Steps to taking a proactive vs. a reactive approach to your Career!

If you have been looking for a position (or new business) for longer than 3 months without your desired results, you are doing something wrong. Perhaps your job search marketing mix needs tweaking? Relying only on the job search boards & the same old contacts doesn’t work!

Use the Job Search B.R.I.D.G.E process and cut your job search time in half!

• Become clear on the type of position you're looking for.
• Research the type of companies who hire these types of positions.
• Identify your target market.
• Deploy your list of contacts.
• Get a game plan.
• Execute and evaluate the plan.

Step I -

Become Clear on the type of position you are after.
You should be able to clearly articulate what you are looking for in two or three sentences. Here are a couple examples:

You are looking for a Project Manager position.

This is a great start and when you take the time to get even clearer, you are more likely to get what you ask for.

A project manager position in the advertising industry.

This is better but still not specific enough.

A project manager position in the advertising industry working on healthcare accounts.

See the difference. This is clearer but don’t stop here, if you go even further to articulate what you’re looking you are more likely to find it. Don’t wing it. Become clear!

Step II

Research the type of companies who hire these types of positions. Where might you network to increase your reach of new contacts? You do this in your role as sales, marketers and creatives. When you start working on a new account you don’t set the strategy without doing the research first right.

Step III

Identify your target market.

Which company’s do you want to work for who can utilize your expertise and skill sets? Does your resume speak to what they are looking for?

Step IV

Develop your list of contacts. Now that you have clearly defined the type of position your after, you’ve researched and identified your target market, your next step is to write out a list of your contacts. You will be better equipped when speaking with your contacts to ask them if they know people in the specific companies you are looking to target. Don’t leave out from your list, your dentist, doctor, house cleaner, neighbor, relatives, recruiters, former boss etc. You never know who might just have the connection to a contact. You can expand your list of contacts by using tools like www.linkedin.com and www.zoominfo.com and don’t forget about those alumni resources.

Step V

Get a game Plan – set aside some time to write out a game plan, even if you start with just a bullet list of things that will support your search initiatives for the week. Again be specific don’t just write send out resumes, write send resumes to John, Beth, contact Syracuse University to get access to alumni resources, get password etc.

Step VI

Execute & Evaluate the plan. It’s not going to happen by itself. Block off the time in your calendar to execute, evaluate, and adjust the plan.

Continue using the Job Search BRIDGE process to Become clearer, narrow your Research, Identify new contacts, Develop a better Game Plan, Execute, evaluate and adjust.
